I’m here to tell you about the Loomis, the little town that I call home. Loomis is located east of Sacramento, in the Sierra Foothills.

Loomis began as a mining town, but agriculture became the second Gold Rush. Fruit was locally grown, and then packed and shipped nationwide. The Blue Goose and High Hand are two remaining historic fruit sheds that were restored and given new lives.

Downtown Loomis is full of locally owned businesses and charming restaurants. As a busy mom, my favorite thing about downtown is that many of the restaurants are located around Blue Anchor Park. It’s the perfect spot to gather while the kids run

around. The park is also a hub for community events, like summer concerts and the Annual Eggplant Festival.”

Many families are drawn to the area for the great public and charter schools. Del Oro High School was named a California Distinguished School by the Department of Education. The school draws its students from two elementary school districts with seven K-8 elementary schools.

Loomis is a semi-rural community that’s working to maintain its small town feel. Homes in the area range from luxury properties to suburban neighborhoods. Many of the homes are on acreage, which provides privacy and room to grow.
